The 6th Annual Warrior Ride

Getting outdoors, enjoying the company of friends, and riding the Bucolic Roads of rural Virginia are all part of the attraction for the annual Warrior Ride.  Melissa and Doug Landau were invited by hosting sponsor NextPoint Group’s Diane Norman. They rode almost 30 miles with friends and then enjoyed a well-deserved outdoor barbeque picnic. According to the coordinator, nearly $99,000 was fundraised during this epic day for the Warrior Retreat at Bull Run! This is all for a wonderful cause. Melissa and Doug have done the event several times before and enjoyed a wonderful barbecue afterward!

“The Warrior Retreat at Bull Run is the flagship program of Willing Warriors.  Our Retreat provides a much-needed break for our recovering service members at military hospitals in the National Capital Region. The daily routine of the long recovery process takes a heavy toll on the entire warrior family.  The Retreat is a place where our “Willing Warriors” can get away from the hospital environment with their families to relax, enjoy quality time, and reconnect in a comfortable home-like setting.  This respite helps to revitalize the mind, spirit, and soul; important aspects of the holistic healing process. The objective is that the entire family returns to their warrior’s recovery process feeling refreshed, inspired, and motivated to succeed in rebuilding the lives they wish to lead.”

Doug Landau saw several riders who participated in Kinetic Multisport events. Others recognized this lawyer from his volunteer duties at the “Tri It Now” events in Manassas, VA at George Mason University in the Price Williams Campus Freedom Center.

Willing Warriors is a privately-funded 501 (c)(3) charitable organization offering cost-free getaways from the hospital environment where Warriors and their families can come to relax, spend quality time together, and reconnect.  Our programs include more than 40+ cost-free educational and recreational activities, including seminars that address the issues of dealing with PTS and TBI. The intended outcome of these retreat stays is the Warrior and their family members return to the routine of rebuilding their lives feeling refreshed and inspired.

The 7th Annual Warrior Ride is set for next year on Saturday, September 7, 2024. Anticipate the Landau’s being there!
