Lids on Kids at Abrams Landau

What is Lids on Kids?

Lids on Kids is one of the initiatives Abrams Landau has taken to give back to the community.

Lids on Kids is a program developed at Abrams Landau that promotes bicycle safety and endorses brain injury prevention methods.

With Loudoun County being the richest county in America, it’s so often easy to neglect the many communities within that can’t afford a bicycle for their child.

Abrams Landau is proud to partner with local businesses and schools to organize distribution events. We educate children on safe biking practices and distribute brand-new bike helmets, bags, t-shirts, and bike safety coloring books in both English and Spanish.

The Team recently broke a new record of distributing 100 Helmets in 100 Minutes!

Through the program, we also provide refurbished bicycles free of charge. These bikes are refurbished by Maverick Bicycles and are appropriately sized for each child. Additionally, we distribute groceries, safety lights, food certificates, and other essential items.

Lids on Kids is so much more than a simple donation program. As an avid cyclist committed to promoting bike safety, Doug educates the kids about the dangers of biking without a helmet and the realities of traumatic brain injury. The Abrams Landau team collaborates with the local police and administration of elementary schools to demonstrate the proper rules of bicycle safety.

The program provides each child with a brand-new helmet from the Bell Company. If any damage occurs to the helmet, Abrams Landau honors to replace the helmet free of charge until each student turns 18. No questions asked. If a student is in an accident and cracks the helmet, or there is some issue with the helmet, it is replaced by Lawyer Landau from the Law Shop’s stockpile.

In addition to fitting kids with bikes and helmets, Landau is a frequent racer and sponsor of the Kinetic Multisport Race series. Kinetic has multiple events from North Carolina to New Jersey.  Lawyer Landau enjoys Reston area running races, as well as triathlons all over the country. He and his wife Melissa particularly enjoy the “5s at 5” and the Thursday night Reston Bike Club rides, which start just down the block from the Law Shop!

Our Law Office in Herndon is filled with the inventory (helmets, bicycle safety books, bags, etc.) for the next round of Lids on Kids and Safe Routes to Schools! We are eager to release our schedule in the Fall when school is back in session!
