Preparation for a National Championship race takes months of hard work and dedication.  In order to be in top form for the USAT DUathlon Nationals, Doug Landau has been focusing his training this Spring on the “Run-Bike-Run” format.  En route to a family gathering in New York State, the Landaus participated in another wonderful DQ Events race in Southern Jersey Memorial Day Weekend.  The Hammonton Sprint DUathlon was a short race that would enable lawyer Landau to see if he had any real running speed.

Hammonton Lake Park was a perfect venue for this race, as there was no traffic on the wide dirt paths in the park, and the local roads had no cars during the run portions of the race.  The biking was essentially flat, through the blueberry capitol of the Garden State. DQ Event put on some terrific races in Southern New Jersey. The Landaus have enjoyed the unique venues, knowledgeable volunteers and comraderie among the skilled athletes they draw.  In the Hammonton race, Landau managed third in his category, though it seemed as though there were many fast 50- year olds.
