Free Trail Ride/Walk/Run and After Party in Herndon

Athletes and fans have a lot to look forward to this upcoming weekend in the local Maryland/Washington/Virginia area.  Both the Reston and Nation’s Triathlons are taking place on Sunday, September 8, 2013.

For those not taking part in either of these, there is a fun, charitable event happening locally in Herndon the day before, on Saturday, September 7.

Our friends and neighbors at Green Lizard Cycling and Jimmy’s Old Town Tavern are holding a Free Trail Ride, Run or Walk and after party.

The event will be hosted by “Best Buddies” ambassador Eric Latcheran.  Join Eric for fun and exercise!  You can support the Best Buddies team by donation — either at the event via donation jars and raffles or online at https://mydc.bestbuddieschallenge.org/ginalatcheran.

Here are the details for Saturday’s event:

  • Ride, hosted by Green Lizard, starts at 8:00 am.  To join the walk or run crowd, e-mail zydecolady1@gmail.com.
  • Afterwards, everyone is invited to party 12:00pm – 4:00pm at Jimmy’s Old Town Tavern on Elden Street.  There will be music –  hand picked by Brian of Jimmy’s Jam.  Local talent has been auditioning, so it’s sure to be a fun afternoon!

Doug and Melissa Landau will be spending their Saturday afternoon volunteering at South Lakes High School in Reston for race packet pick-up and bike helmet safety checks for the Reston Triathlon.  On Sunday, they will both compete in the Reston Triathlon at Lake Audubon.
