DC Police Hand out Free Bike Locks at Metro Station

How cool is this?

On a recent summer day, DC Metro Police distributed free U-locks to cyclists who registered their bicycles with the Metro Transit Police Department.  It happened at the College Park Metro station from 7:30 to 9:30am on Tuesday, August 6. Not coincidentally, the College Park station is Metro’s first Bike and Ride facility.

The free locks are part of Metro Police’s efforts to thwart bike thieves in the city by encouraging regular riders to register their bike’s make, model, serial number, color, and frame size with the transit agency.

Cyclist and bike safety lawyer Doug Landau gives a virtual “high five” to DC Metro for helping cyclists in the area!

If you or someone you know has been injured while riding a bicycle and there are questions as to what laws apply, email or call Abrams Landau, Ltd. at once (703-796-9555).
