Vasa Ride 2008
March 2, 2008
8:00 AM – 2:00 PM
On March 2, 2008 join WABA, the Embassy of Sweden and TheAthletesLawyer in celebrating Sweden’s famed ski race and festival Vasaloppet by bike ! Jump start your riding season on this fun event, with options for riders of all abilities! Starting from the House of Sweden, bicyclists and triathletes can duplicate the 56-mile Vasa race with a non-competitive bicycle ride ride through scenic upper Northwest Washington, DC and into Montgomery County, Maryland.
In keeping with the Vasaloppet’s week-long series of events for everyone, WABA also has designed shorter bicycle touring routes, a Halv Vasa (28 miles) and a Kort Vasa (14 miles). Running races in Sweden are also shortened in this same manner. TriathlonTrialLawyer Doug Landau has run the Saffle “Kort Maraton” (6.6 miles) in Sweden.
All rides will finish with the Vasa Race’s famed blueberry soup courtesy of Ekströms, part of Procordia Food AB and the Swedish Embassy.
In an effort to have all riders arriving back at House of Sweden at the same time, ride starts will be staggered.
Registration will start at 8:00am
56-mile Vasa will start at 8:30am
28-mile Halv Vasa will start at 9:00am
14-mile Kort Vasa will start at 9:30am
Vasa Ride is a rain or shine event, and helmets are mandatory. If it snows, bring your skis!
This is a FREE event, but participants can donate to WABA.
