Big Crash on Fairfax County Parkway

Crashes on the Fairfax County Parkway have been observed when there are light and/or lane changes on this popular Northern Virginia commuter route and DC Metro area’s “outer Beltway”
Coming home from the Landau Law Shop Friday evening, I came upon numerous fire trucks and police cars on the grassy median of the Fairfax County Parkway. Between Fox Mill Road and West Ox Roads, on the North bound side, there were more emergency and rescue vehicles than I have seen in the 28 years I have lived in the area. The sun had not yet set at 7:40 p.m., and the area in question has
good visibility and little grade. While there is pipe construction on the bike trail part of the Parkway, it is unclear whether it contributed in any way to the event. Most of this kind of construction work is concluded hours earlier.
More commonly, I have seen cars and trucks pulled over to the side of the Fairfax County Parkway after a rear-ender or side-swipe while changing lanes. Our Herndon law firm has represented Franklin Farms neighbors injured when an overloaded dump truck could not stop in time for the red light near tuck away. Heavy trucks are not able to stop quickly, especially when traveling down hill on a rainy day. The Abrams Landau team was able to successfully settle the case for a wonderful Oak Hill family whose mother sustained permanent lumbar spine injuries and whose van was damaged in the wreck. If you or someone you know or care for has been injured as the result of a car, truck, bicycle or motorcycle crash and there are questions about what laws apply, e-mail or call us at ABRAMS LANDAU, Ltd.
