When you’re born on the 4th of July, there’s nothing like a little Americana…

Salisbury_Band_dkwl_7.08.jpegOne of the traditions that I look forward to each year on my birthday is spending time with my family. Here I am listening to the Salisbury Band on my birthday. My siblings, parents, nieces and nephews enjoy the holiday in Connecticut by participating in relay races, watching fireworks and some form of patriotic, home-made “Red, White and Blue” birthday cake !

The Salisbury Band is community band which was founded in 1928 and has played ‘on the street and on the green’ every year since it was founded. Tradition is born out of longevity, anticipation, and enjoyment and the tradition of the Salisbury Band encompasses all of these traits and more. The Salisbury Band, located in Litchfield County, Connecticut (where I went to high school and am a member of the Bar Association !) is open to all players of all ages from all areas. It is an exceptional opportunity for young aspiring musicians to sharpen their skills as well as for ‘mature’ players who have not played for a number of years to rediscover those skills. Practice is held at the Salisbury Library and schedules vary based upon season.
