Why Does the Landau Law Team ask SO MANY nosey questions?!
The team at Abrams Landau works hard to ensure each client can get the benefits the law allows. To accomplish this, Doug Landau will ask questions that some clients remark even their doctors did not ask! Recognizing the sensitive and personal nature of some of the questions, Landau will often share examples from other cases (without personal identifiers) to let clients and their families know WHY this information is so important.

Teaching by examples is central to Landau’s ability to educate, prepare and forearmed for court. The ABRAMS LANDAU team will ask for personal information such as: height, weight, medications being taken prior to the accident, allergies, herbal remedies, family and prior medical history. The more we know about a client, the better we can help serve them.
Just like eczema and psoriasis are complications when spinal surgery is being considered, diabetes, high blood pressure, calcium deficiency, religious precepts or other personal information may also be crucial information to your file.
For example, if a client at Abrams Landau has psoriasis and a severe back injury that requires spinal surgery, the surgery may not be in the patient’s best interests. This is because psoriasis increases the risk of complications after spine surgery, including infection and bleeding. Patients with psoriasis are more likely to get an infection at the surgical site after spine surgery, such as a lumbar laminotomy, fusion, instrumentation or discectomy due to delayed wound healing, altered genetic and cellular defense mechanisms, and/or medications that suppress the immune system. Surgery on a body part with active psoriasis may increase the risk of bleeding from that area.

Personal information can seem invasive to new clients and their families, but it is vital to a case to be transparent with your legal team. It can also help prevent complications in procedures and doctor visits. For example, if the treating orthopedic surgeon does not now what medications are being taken for unrelated conditions, complications can occur that will cause unnecessary harm. Sometimes clients believe that the more they reveal about themselves, the less compensation they receive from insurance companies. However, in many circumstances, complete candor results in a better outcome.
For the team to ensure a comprehensive case assessment, it is important to be transparent. The Abrams Landau team keeps this information confidential and utilizes if for better case preparation.
