Scarring from a bike crash, car accident or the surgery to fix broken bones can be permanent unless dermabrasion, scar revision or plastic surgery options are explored

After a bike crash or car wreck, the road rash will have faded and the broken bones healed, but the surgical scars and skin discoloration may be permanent.  However, advances in medicine and surgical technique have enabled our clients to reverse and reduce the unsightly effects of the unsafe acts of negligent drivers.  Even if the injured victim is not ready to undergo dermabrasion or scar removal, they can still see a top local plastic surgeon in order to get evidence as to the full extent of their losses should they undergo such procedures in the future.

In addition, Doug Landau, of the Herndon Virginia law firm ABRAMS LANDAU, Ltd., notes that unless there is expert medical opinion as to future medical care and time loss from work, many courts will not allow testimony as to these elements of damages.  Lawyer Landau adds, “Virginia trial judges have ruled that without a doctor’s testimony as to future scar revision, time loss from work, medications, etc., that this evidence does not get presented to the jury in a personal injury case, as it is “too speculative” and therefore not admissible.”  Curious about the options available ?  See tomorrow’s post.
