Herndon Turkey Trot – Food Donation & Food Prizes

Just down from the W&OD Trail Caboose, the Herndon law firm ABRAMS LANDAU, Ltd., the Municipal Center and the underground Court House is the race course for the Annual Turkey Trot 5k on the Town of Herndon Golf Course

The only time you can run on the grass of the Herndon Golf Course without being chased or shot at is next week. The annual Herndon Turkey Trot 5km takes place November 21st at the Herndon Community Center (“HCC”), just a few hundred yards West on the W&OD Trail from the Landau Law Shop ! In addition to runners being able to wear their cross country spikes and stretch inside the heated HCC gym, there are the famous Turkey Awards. In years past, I have brought kids to participate who won turkeys that weighed almost as much as they did by winning their age groups !

Overall male and female winners are also given a Thanksgiving turkey with all the trimmings. One of the wonderful things bout this local, “home town race” is that there are awards for youger participants and a warm place to go after finishing ! Prizes will be awarded to first and second place finishers in the following age groups: 10 and under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70 and over. 1st place: Thanksgiving turkey. 2nd place: Mom’s Apple Pie.

As in years past, the Herndon running race also asks that runners, joggers and walkers make donations to LINK. The Herndon Virginia race directors ask that each jogger, runner and walker bring a can of food for a donation to Link. Link is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping the less fortunate in the Northern Virginia community. Doug Landau of the Herndon law firm ABRAMS LANDAU, Ltd. will be bringing food and racing, though he does not own track or cross country spikes ! Let’s hope the Triathlon Trial Lawyer does not slip on the back nine !
