Northern Virginia Multisport athletes, this is the event for you.  You can stay warm, not wake up early and even film the entire race !  The Aquathon returns to Herndon in Memory of Jack Corkey. Come out December 8th for our all-water biathlon.  Swim a half mile, then run a half IN THE POOL ! It’s a 1/2 mile pool swim at the lovely Herndon Community Center (you can even watch the race from the hot tub after your heat is done !).  The swim is followed IMMEDIATELY by a 1/2 mile run, in sneakers, aquashoes, vibrams, etc., in lanes of varying depth based upon your height ! The race is draft legal, but your hands must be below the water surface during the “run.” There are many “correct styles” and Jack and I laughed with the participants when we watched this fun, friendly event.  You can sauna, hot tub &/or shower afterwards (how many races can say that ?!!?).  If memory serves, the course record is held by HCC lifeguard Amy Van Antwerp.

Where else are you and your fans, coaches going to be able to: film you “in competition” underwater; “trash talk” to you during a race; AND come home with NOT T-Shirts, but cool boxers in memory of one of the great friends of Northern Virginia MultiSport Racing ???  We’ll have GUs, snacks, prizes and of course “darned good” treats from our neighbors at Great Harvest Bakery.  AND, it’s not early in the morning – you can even go out afterwards !
