In light of Teacher Appreciation Day, the staff at Abrams Landau law wanted to show our appreciation for teachers all over the world and specifically, Rachel Carson Middle School’s eighth grade teacher Cynthia Burgett. Attorney Doug Landau of Abrams Landau, Ltd.<\/a> has been helping Ms. Burgett as a volunteer teacher since 2013 to prepare her precocious eighth grade students for We the People.<\/p>\n

The Center for Civics Education’s We the People: The Citizen and the Constitution Program<\/a> promotes teaching and learning about the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Each year, there are local, state and national competitions for participating schools. For the sixth year in a row, Cynthia Burgett’s eighth grade Civics class made it to the Final Four in the We the People National Invitational competition. Just yesterday, they made it to the top 3 and competed for most of the day at the National Conference Center in Leesburg, Virginia. Attorney Landau was with the students the day of the competition to show his support and stayed around for the Awards Ceremony last night as well.<\/p>\n

Landau continues to be in awe of the knowledge these young students have of our government’s history, Constitution, law and current events. He cannot stress the importance of understanding the workings of our government and our past and current political system, especially in such changing times.<\/p>\n
