Prior to July 1, drivers had to give two feet of clearance when passing a bicycle on Virginia roadways.\u00a0 Now the law requires motorists to give a three-foot clearance.<\/p>\n
Also effective July 1 in Virginia, moped and scooter drivers will be required to carry government-issued photo identification.\u00a0 It is still permissible to drive a scooter or moped, however, without a license.<\/p>\n
However, the mopeds and scooters themselves must be titled and registered.\u00a0 The fees are $10 for a title and $20.25 for annual registration.<\/p>\n
Finally, drivers and passengers on a moped or scooter must wear a helmet, as well as a face shield or safety glasses or goggles.<\/p>\n
