Bicycle crashes can be quite serious.\u00a0 Imagine riding a bike at 20 m.p.h., and the frame of the bike collapses, the fork snaps, or the brakes fail to work, or the seat cracks (or bolts give out) and you are thrown from the bike, etc.\u00a0 A cyclist involved in an accident is likely to be more severely injured than the driver of a car involved in an accident at that same speed simply because cyclists are not as protected as motorists — they do not have seat belts, air bags, roll bars\/roof pillars or the benefit of the structure of a car to protect them.\u00a0\u00a0 The full impact of a crash is typically absorbed by the cyclist’s body itself.<\/p>\n

The injuries, not surprisingly, can be severe — head trauma, broken bones, internal bleeding, even paralysis or death.\u00a0 Being injured while riding a bike that has a manufacturing defect is an example of being injured due to no fault of your own.\u00a0 In this situation, a law suit may be appropriate.<\/p>\n
