{"id":4796,"date":"2014-01-14T06:12:21","date_gmt":"2014-01-14T06:12:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/landauinjurylaw.com\/theathleteslawyer\/?p=4796"},"modified":"2014-01-14T06:12:21","modified_gmt":"2014-01-14T06:12:21","slug":"specialized-bicycles-recalled-due-to-fall-hazard","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/landauinjurylaw.com\/theathleteslawyer\/2014\/01\/14\/specialized-bicycles-recalled-due-to-fall-hazard\/","title":{"rendered":"Specialized Bicycles Recalled Due to Fall Hazard"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Approximately 173 bikes sold at authorized Specialized Bicycle dealers have been recalled.\u00a0 The bikes were sold in the United States from October 2011 to September 2013 for a price of $2,000 to $2,700.\u00a0 Here are the details:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2012 model year Source Eleven and Source Expert Disc bicycles with Supernova Switchable Dynamo Front Hubs as part of the original equipment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The name &#8220;Specialized&#8221; is printed on the bicycle&#8217;s down tube and&#8221;Source Eleven&#8221; or &#8220;Source Expert&#8221; are printed on the top tube.<\/li>\n<li>The front hubs have &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.supernova-lights.com\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">www.supernova-lights.com<\/a>&#8221; and one of the following model numbers printed on them: 1207, 1208, 1226, 1227, 1228, 1241, 1254, 1263, 1284 and 1344.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The bikes are being recalled because the set screws in the front hub can loosen and stop the front wheel from turning.\u00a0 This can pose a fall hazard. Herndon bike injury lawyer Doug Landau was in an accident where his front wheel was caused to stop suddenly when a metal map holder fell into the spokes. \u00a0These sudden crashes often result in the rider tumbling off the bicycle and sustaining injury, even at modest speeds, as was the case with lawyer Landau. \u00a0If you have purchased this bike, immediately stop using it and bring it to an authorized Specialized dealer for a free replacement front wheel and new Supernova front hub.
