Triathlon Trial Lawyer Doug Landau of Herndon Virginia was again 3rd overall & the Over 50 champion at today’s Fawn Lake Sprint Triathlon in Spotsylvania<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Two years ago Herndon lawyer triathlete Doug Landau posted the fastest bike time to come out of the Transition area in first place, only to be passed by two faster (and younger) runners.\u00a0 The winner averaged under 6 minutes per mile and lawyer Landau ended up third, easily winning his age group as the fastest finisher over 50.\u00a0 This year, the Landaus travelled to Spotsylvania County in order to once again tackle this lovely, safe and scenic course.\u00a0 The 700 yard swim in Fawn Lake, with men starting all together and women starting thereafter is one of the most enjoyable lake swims.\u00a0 The bike ride through this gated community is comprised of two loops, and spectators can see the racers 3 times on the run. The Fawn Lake Sprint Triathlon<\/a> is an excellent race for folks in the Fredericksburg, Stafford and Spotsylvania areas.<\/p>\n

Today Herndon lawyer Landau had a good swim, emerging in the top 10, and was passing cyclists at a steady clip, until it was realized that the top bikers had not made a turn and had gone extra distance.\u00a0 They made U-turns and Landau resumed passing racers with no idea as to his place.\u00a0 After going by a half dozen cyclists, he was told that he was in first, stayed there for 25 minutes and when he entered the second transition area, he took off in order to ensure the win.\u00a0 Imagine his surprise when he saw two young runners heading in the opposite direction at the half mile marker !<\/p>\n

Apparently he was not in the lead, but 3 minutes or more behind the lead due.\u00a0 Landau “got busy” and was within seconds of second place, running under 7 minutes per mile.\u00a0 Mrs. Landau won a silver medal for her efforts in her age group and her husband got another age group first and third overall.\u00a0 Perhaps next year lawyer Landau will win this race.\u00a0 He is 9 weeks out from the USAT DUathlon National Championships and will begin focusing his training on the “Run-Bike-Run” format, honing his running speed and endurance for the second run.\u00a0 Next week the Landaus take part in the Rock’n’Roll Marathon races, with Mrs. Landau taking on the half marathon and Doug looking for a top-10 finish in the 5 km.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
