The Washington D.C. Road Runners Club (DCRRC<\/a>) had races for every single level of runner.\u00a0 With 15 heats, there was a kids mile, a race walk (won by my friend Peter Blank), Masters races, female and male events, elites and groups at specified paces.<\/p>\n

As a DCRRC member, I have enjoyed the club’s road races and other events.\u00a0 The summer mile races are always a good time to check on one’s speed and fitness.\u00a0 With perfect weather, Ed Grant and the rest of the DCRRC gang witnessed many closely fought races.\u00a0 Running in both the Masters Mile and then later the “Under 6:30” heat, I managed a pedestrian 6:09 and 6:18 mile times.\u00a0 However, I got a shot of andrenalin watching runners like Dixon Hemphill, Alissa Harvey and Peter Blank contesting on the Washington & Lee High School track in Arlington, Virginia. For runners interested in mid-week races, the DCRRC Calendar has good competition throughout Northern Virginia, Washington, DC and Maryland.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
