Hooray for Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) which announced last month that it will participate in this year’s National Bike to School Day!<\/p>\n

The largest school system in Virginia will encourage its teachers, staff, and students to bike to school on May 8 in order to promote good health through physical activity, and reduce traffic and pollution in our area.<\/p>\n

A fan of the annual “Bike to Work Day” (this year scheduled for Friday, May 17), Herndon attorney Doug Landau applauds FCPS for joining this important cause.<\/p>\n

“A bike ride is a great way to start — and end\u00a0 — the school day,” says Landau.<\/p>\n

Doug has a plea for parents:<\/p>\n

Make sure your children have a safe route mapped out AND that they wear a helmet every time they get on a bike!!<\/strong><\/p>\n

And one for drivers too:<\/p>\n

Be extra vigilant on May 8 — watch for school children on bikes!<\/strong><\/p>\n
