(Look for Doug at minute 10:54.)<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Doug told the Council members, \u201cWhile we help the victims of accidents, I would rather prevent needless brain injuries and head trauma.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Tomorrow, we will post upcoming dates and locations where more helmets will be given away.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some shocking statistics from the Virginia State Health Department <!--more-->:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Children under the age of 15 are five times more likely to be injured in a bicycle-related crash than older riders.<\/li>\n<li>One of the leading rider errors among children is not wearing a bicycle helmet.<\/li>\n<li>75% of bike-related fatalities could have been prevented through the proper use of a bike helmet.<\/li>\n<li>Bicycle helmets, when worn properly, reduce the risk of serious brain injury by almost 90%.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you or someone you know has been injured as a result of a bicycle crash and there are questions about what laws apply, <a title=\"mail front desk\" href=\"https:\/\/landauinjurylaw.com\/index.php\/2012\/01\/31\/legal-causation-of-car-crash-injuries-is-not-so-simple\/mail.landaulawshop.com\" target=\"_blank\">e-mail <\/a>or call us at ABRAMS LANDAU, Ltd.
