Giant Acorn Sprint Triathlon 50-54 age group winners, Boxley Cove, Bumpass, Virginia<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Needing one more race to have the mandatory minimum number to qualify for the Virginia Triathlon Series<\/a> (“VTS”) age group awards, Doug Landau had his heel taped up and travelled down to Boxley Cove in Bumpass, Virginia for the final event of the season.\u00a0 The Giant Acorn Sprint Triathlon<\/a> was held on a cold, rainy day but the water temperature was warm and yet still wetsuit legal.<\/p>\n

The road surfaces were wet, but the rain held during the majority of this challenging race.\u00a0 As usual, Greg Hawkins and his crew put on a fun, scenic and safe event.\u00a0 There were plenty of volunteers and pizza for every finisher.\u00a0 Landau has not done any run training since the Reston Triathlon a month ago; the only running the Triathlon Trial Lawyer has done is in the deep end of the Herndon Community Center pool.\u00a0 Nevertheless, once on dry land, only his friend, client (and eventual Age Group runner-up) Bill Coquelin passed him (during the bike). Landau though he could have caught the faster swimmers in his category on the run, as it was 1\/3 cross country, but he ran out of real estate, finishing 5th.\u00a0 Friend (and part fish !) John Lysher of Fredericksburg again bested Landau, winning the AG and likely taking the series crown.\u00a0 Landau had a strong race, but Lysher was top 20, and put a great distance during the swim, and he increased it with a powerful bike ride.\u00a0 After the race, the Athletes Lawyer and Triathlon Coach Rob Colburn (who won his age group handily) stopped at “Moo Thru” on Route 29 for ice cream milk shakes and lunch. The Herndon trial lawyer will likely now not compete in the Fall road races in order to let his plantar fasciitis, tarsal tunnel syndrome and heel spur heal.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
