At the competitive Goblin Gallop 5km race<\/a> contested at the Fairfax Town Center lasts weekend, a team comprised of Sport & Health Worldgate<\/a> Club Masters swim group (AKA “World Gators”) members and friends teamed up to race as a co-ed team. There were over 2,000 finishers and all proceeds from the Goblin Gallop went to support the John Quadrino Foundation<\/a> (to Benefit Children with Cancer). Finishing in 18:21, Falmouth Fredericksburg YMCA’s Terry McLaughlin was the team’s first male finisher, followed by Doug Landau of the Herndon law firm ABRAMS LANDAU<\/a>, in 20:39.<\/p>\n

The race rules for this October 30, 2011 event required that teams – were to be scored by the top 4 by “Net Time” with at least One Man and One Woman. The “World Gators” team scored TWO women ! <\/em> Lead by Herndon Virginia’s Annie Downer in 22:28 and Sarah Buckheit (24:25), the group had a total top 4 time of 85:53, and an average of 21:29 ! That’s less than 7 minutes per mile. Annie’s son Zachary Hennessa and triathlete Terry Duran rounded out the team with excellent times and smiles afterwards. Landau is looking for other charitable competitive team racing events like this excellent road running race.
