The reason no lawyer took the case may be because the 2 year time limit ay have run. Our office would not take the case either, as it takes time to properly investigate accident cases in order to prepare them for court. I am sorry that you were hurt and hope that you have recovered.

You may want to contact the EEOC or a labor lawyer near your home who has actually handled these "off the clock" cases.

The key part of your comment - "knowingly" is the critical part. We were involved in a wrongful death car crash case where the Defendant driver was lost, speeding, high on drugs and did not have a valid license due to prior infractions. His employer knew or should have known, since they went to Traffic Court with him (& may have paid his fines, court costs, etc.). In that case, the employer paid additional money out of its own pocket, on top of the insurance policy limits, because they could be found liable for knowingly putting an unlicensed, dangerous driver behind the wheel. Every case is specific to its facts, but unsafe decisions that unnecessarily endanger those lawfully on the road can result in legal liability.

Dear Ms. Williams, This case is not something our office is equipped to handle. You should perhaps call your local Bar Association "Lawyer Referral Programs." It is either free or at reduced cost, and an attorney in this area of law will be better able to assist you. Good luck, Doug Landau

According to Virginia Lawyers Weekly, the Virginia State Bar Disciplinary Board has suspended the license of a Leesburg lawyer for five years because he continued to practice law and accepted a fee without providing services after his license had been suspended administratively. The action against David Redd Young Jr. came at an expedited hearing on May 20, 2011. For full story, see
